As Jacob’s journey continues through the spectrum of autism so does our journey as parents. Being persistent, having the courage and motivation to continue forward one step at a time whilst we are living and trusting in the moment. As a mother and father we have learnt to totally love and accept Jacob for who he is.
We are always saying to everyone around us that Jacob is a gift sent to us for lots of different reasons, how to eat well and be healthy, choosing happiness even in the hardest challenging moments of daily activities, being more patient, wanting our lives and our environment to be clean and safe, being honest and authentic with our ideas and feelings. We continually visualise the biggest gift box with the most extravagant ribbon and wrapping and opening this gift will bring so many grateful opportunities to appreciate him even more.

Playing with Jacob is the highlight of my week. Not only do I get the special privilege of playing with such a spectacular boy, being let into his world, but I also know that afterwards a wonderful meal (cooked by the magnificent Antonietta) is waiting for me and a chance to hang out with the rest of “Team Jacob”, who have become like a family/person cheer squad. Through their support and feedback I always feel such a strong sense of achievement.
Watching Jacob as he tears up a piece of paper with strong determination and glee, or seeing him squeal with excitement as he watched his favourite movie, has taught me to enjoy the small things in life and to follow my dreams. Due to the passion that I have for the program and the strong love I have for Jacob, I now know that I want to utilise my psychology degree as a platform to work in this area.
Samuel is the greatest big brother ever. He is a cool, calm, collected soul and loves Jacob immensely. A true gift to the entire family, Jacob is lucky to have such an amazing big brother.
Jacob has an amazing line up of complementary therapies which we do on a daily basis. The variety of therapies provides Jacob with strong, solid foundations, preparing him for a healthy, happy and vibrant future.
A sturdy diet offers Jacob great nutrition, complemented with Bio Medical treatment. Jacob also participates in an individual home school program based on socialization and play. Jacob and his PlayRoom Buddies gather together daily for lots of fun. Combined with sensory therapy, Jacob is understanding how to use his body to its full potential. Together with this is his integrated Listening System (iLS) in-home program. The Nutri-Energetics System (NES) has Jacob’s energy and inner body functioning incredibly well. Through Neurofeedback, Jacob is learning to train his brain to function more efficiently.
